The Security of Your Data

As a real estate professional, your data is among your greatest assets, so it’s natural to have questions about how it’ll be protected, especially with the proposed sale of REcolorado on the horizon.

Data Security: A Nationwide Priority

The security of listing data is not unique to REcolorado. It’s a top priority among MLS organizations throughout the country.

Before we get to the issue of data distribution, it is important to discuss data integrity. Under no circumstance can the data provided by any participant be changed by anyone other than the participant, their office staff, or MLS Staff for the purposes of data accuracy.

MLS systems have a strong precedence for maintaining secure data storage systems. With the introduction of IDX and demands of the brokerage community to make all available properties accessible to the public, data distribution became widespread. Throughout technological changes, data security has consistently remained an important consideration for the MLS.

Our Commitment to Data Security

At REcolorado, we have always held the security of your data as a top priority. To acknowledge our interest in securing both the MLS system and protecting your data, we jointly execute End User License Agreements (EULA) with every REcolorado subscriber. Section 2 of the agreement states:

2. It is acknowledged that both REcolorado and Subscriber have an interest in protecting the security of the REcolorado MLS System and the REcolorado Data contained within the System.

Additionally, REcolorado has extremely strong license agreements with the industry partners authorized to use your data for products, IDX sites, back-office systems and more. To ensure license agreements are followed, we have a compliance team dedicated to monitoring data usage.

We have also partnered with MLS Grid to further ensure the security of MLS Data. MLS Grid oversees data feeds, distribution, and data license agreements. Their compliance arm also tracks data usage and looks for breaches to ensure appropriate use of MLS data.

These agreements and processes will continue under new ownership.

A Legacy of Data Stewardship

We have long been stewards of your data and consider it to be a core function of the MLS, and this would not change with a new owner. We believe that both Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® and South Metro Denver REALTOR® Association share our commitment to protecting your data and would not compromise your data for the sake of this potential sale.
